Biography

Mohammed Agoumi is Delegate General Manager, BMCE Bank.

Prior to joining BMCE Bank Group, Mr. Agoumi has held several senior management positions in the banking industry, either as banker or adviser to financial institutions. He started his career and spent 7 years with Peat Marwick International (now KPMG) in charge of the audit and advisory to the financial institutions. In 1987, Mr Agoumi joined Eurogroup and was promoted to partner in 1990. From 1997, he led Eurogroup’s Banking & Finance practice and advised the main leading French banks on various matters such as strategy, restructuring, governance, IT and Back office reorganization. Upon the financial market reform in Morocco, he advised Moroccan financial institutions on setting up capital market activities. He also assisted various Moroccan banks in the reorganization of the risk function, in compliance with the Basel II regulations.

During his career with Groupe Crédit Agricole France S.A. (CASA), from 2006 to 2009, Mr Agoumi held various management positions. He was appointed Delegate General Manager of Le Credit Lyonnais (LCL) in 2006 and member of the Executive Committee of CASA Group. Mr Agoumi was in charge of the management and the strategy of LCL’s Credit division and successfully managed the integration of LCL within the Group Credit Agricole as well as the reorganisation of the retail business, including the Private Banking and the Corporate Banking divisions. He was promoted as member of the Executive Committee of CASA Group in 2008 in charge of the international development of the Group.

Since 2010, Mr Agoumi has been the founding Chairman of Groupe Europa Corporate Business Group - ECBG – which assists and advises investment banks and SMEs in their strategic expansion. He is also the Chairman of the Moroccan subsidiary of ECBG, namely Financing Access Maroc, which advises the SMEs in their relationships with the Banks.

Mr Agoumi joined the BMCE Group in 2012 as Delegate General Manager in charge of the international activities of the Bank. The scope of his responsibilities covers the management and the supervision of the affiliates of BMCE Bank outside Morocco including BMCE Bank International plc UK, BMCE International Spain, the BOA Group across Sub Saharan Africa, the Congolaise de Banque and the Banque du Mali. Mr. Agoumi graduated from the ESSEC management school, Paris, and holds a Postgraduate in Mathematics and Econometrics. He taught for two years at ESSEC as Assistant Professor in the Economics Department. Mr Agoumi has been a chartered accountant since 1993.

Mr. Agoumi is married and father of 2 children.
